A speech-language evaluation is the first real answer most families get. It happens at home or online, and ends with a written report and a plan — not “wait and see”. Conversation for the big ones. - An evaluation looks at how your child understands language, uses it, produces sounds, and — where relevant — eats, reads and writes. For toddlers that's play with a purpose. For school-age children and teens it's conversation, some reading and writing, and formal and informal assessment. - You stay in the room. At the end we tell you what we saw, in plain language, and you get a written report within **5 business days** that you can share with your pediatrician, school or insurance plan. - A **screening** is shorter — 20–30 minutes — and answers one question: is a full evaluation worth doing? We run screenings at preschools and daycares, elementary schools, pediatricians' offices, and community groups and libraries — and by request. What to expect ## What to expect. 1 ### Parent conversation Milestones, family history, what you're noticing, what you want. 2 ### Hearing If we think a hearing check is needed, we'll say so and point you to the right place. 3 ### Assessment Play, conversation, and formal and informal assessment matched to your child's age. 4 ### The plan What we found, what we recommend, and what it would cost — in writing. Who it's for ## Any child, birth to 21, when a caregiver has a question. - A toddler who isn't talking as much as you expected - A preschooler who's hard to understand - A child whose teacher has raised a concern - A student whose reading or writing lags behind - A family who wants a second opinion or an independent report - A teen who wants to work on how they come across - A child who needs support with executive functioning skills — and much more Questions parents ask ## Before you book ### How much does an evaluation cost? We'll tell you on the consult call and put it in writing before you book. Private pay; a superbill is provided for out-of-network benefits. ### Can I use the report for school or Early Intervention? You can share it with anyone you choose. ### What if my child won't cooperate? That's normal, and it's information too.
